French and Supply Teachers Job at Kendellhurst Academy – Mississauga, ON

Kendellhurst Academy is an independent school (JK-8) located in Streetsville, Mississauga. We are growing and require a qualified French Teacher with a strong French language background to join our team. This is a full time, permanent position. RECE/OCT qualified candidates only will be considered for this position. We are also looking for OCT supply teachers. Wage is dependent on experience, availability and certification.

Position Details:

  • wage is hourly and dependent on experience, availability and certification;
  • vacation periods: March break, winter break, stat holidays and summer;
  • teachers may work in the summer, if desired, for our summer camp program;
  • 3-4 Professional Activity Days per school calendar year;
  • a benefits plan after 3 months of full time employment;
  • on-the-job training and workshops;
  • prep periods for planning;
  • dedicated planning weeks per school year;
  • work 8:00/8:30 to 4:00/4:30 Monday to Friday.

French Teacher candidates must be fully bilingual (French and English), have 3 – 8 years teaching experience (Canadian preferred), mature, professional, nurturing, team players dedicated to the field of elementary school education. Candidates must also have CPR certification (for teaching), a clear vulnerable sector check, “in good standing” with her/her professional college, and good familiarity with primary levels. Experience with technology programs an asset. Kendellhurst is an interactive, fun and positive learning environment. We provide resources for lesson planning in this context.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • planning French language lessons and follow-up activities;
  • creating and delivering thematic planners;
  • filling out accident and incident reports as needed;
  • implementing the school’s Advanced French Language Program
  • delivering an enriched, academic curriculum;
  • tracking and monitoring student success and progress;
  • grading and writing report cards with team teachers in English;
  • planning event days (Valentine, Mothers’ Day, etc.) in French lessons;
  • assisting in planning three school concerts with grade school team;
  • communication with parents at student dismissal;
  • participating in parent-teacher conferences and meetings;
  • using technology as a teaching tool;
  • online teaching an asset;
  • keeping a tidy, clean, inviting and positive classroom environment;
  • caring for students in a whole child manner;
  • covering outdoor and lunch supervision as an integral team member.
