Salary Range: $78,489 – $113,043 per annum pending experience

St Margaret Mary’s College, Hyde Park is a Townsville Girls Catholic College, founded in 1963 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan. The College accepts enrolments from girls in Years 7 to 12, and offers a wide variety of subjects and vocational programs. The College is also noted for its many extracurricular activities, its commitment to students with special needs and its variety of service opportunities for students.

About the role

St Margaret Mary’s College, Hyde Park is seeking a dedicated and experienced Secondary Indigenous Education Teacher. This is a Full Time, Fixed Term Contract commencing Term 1, 2023 for the rest of the 2023 teaching year.

The role of the Indigenous Education Teacher is to assist the Principal in the areas of Curriculum, Pastoral Care and Community Engagement. The Indigenous Education Teacher works cooperatively and in collaboration with school leadership personnel, teachers, other student support services team members and parents/carers to ensure Indigenous students in primary and secondary schools across the Diocese are supported to engage purposefully in learning. The role holder will work to develop the capability within schools to cater for the diversity of these learners within the school population. The Indigenous Education Teacher will work proactively to embed Indigenous Education Initiatives within the College setting.

Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other

Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers

Current Driver’s Licence

Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
